Memorial Day - weekend memories and then some!

Our weekend started early with a playgroup on Thursday, then Auntie Al coming to visit us, which were both great fun! On Friday, we had My Gym and then Uncle Doug and Miss Brenda came out to stay... we got to go out to dinner. DQ made a mess of the restaurant, but she's really been such a great baby so far to take out places. Doesn't fuss much as long as she's got something to keep her busy or someone to flirt and play with.

On Saturday, we decided to get some fresh air, so we all went for a drive down to Plymouth and Auntie Cindy met us there too - perfect timing for us to meet her and all drive together. We had a ball just going from place to place and seeing a few old friends too. DQ was a big hit everywhere we went and was so good and lots of fun to have around, the whole day! We even stopped for sushi on the way home where the waitresses, made a big fuss over how cute she is.

On Sunday, we had a good breakfast, then D & B left so once DQ was up from her nap, Cindy and I took her out on a beautiful day to have lunch, then stopped for a treat (where above pic was taken).

Unfortunately, Memorial Day morning started with a scare. DQ decided to get into the planter box in my room which I promptly scooted her away from, but when I layed her down to change her, I noticed she had a mouth full of tiny pebbles and dirt. It scared the wits out of me, since when I went to get them all out, it seemed as if she stopped breathing and couldn't catch her air. I think I just scared her and she was crying so hard she couldn't catch a breath. I ran down the hall with her to get Cindy to help calm us both down, and all was well. I still called the nurse, just to be sure. The rest of the day was pretty un-eventful, and we had lots of fun playing with a few new toys.

First month down and having a ball!

DQ is making fantastic progress in so many areas! We are really enjoying our time together and finding so many new things and meeting new friends as well as spending time with family and friends too!

Highlights:
New favorite things- Laugh & Learn Puppy, soccer ball, and small bounce balls. Soft Bear and butterfly blankie. Big girl chair and rocking chair. Hugs, loves and cuddles throughout the day!

Now pulling herself up on furniture and wants to walk all day, holding fingers, and running from room to room, trying to decide which toys are the best in the moment. The balance is not quite there yet, but getting very close to fully walking/sprinting.

Music Together and My Gym are a hit along with new playgroups and sweet new friends.

Challenges:
Got a second cold since coming home to include the cough that wakes her up throughout the night; sleeping in own crib is not happening for more than a couple of hours at a time.

Mealtime is a guessing game as to what will be accepted at the moment. Today I thought how great it was that she had eaten nearly all I had given her... well, come to find out at clean up time, she had found a little nook in the tray and had stuffed most of it between the trays. The little stinker! :) but I could not help but laugh and smile.

My biggest stress right now, is looking for the best type of childcare I can find that works for us both! Would she get the type of stimulation she needs with an Au Pair, or is an organized daycare the best??

The long awaited... 1st Mother's Day!

Mother's day started as a very 'normal' day -- waking to a smiling baby!
She is so happy in the morning, with lots of laughter. Then breakfast, trying to find what she will eat that day. Morning nap time went pretty well, and when she woke, it would be time for our BFFs to come over... Cindy, Kayla and Shelby would be over after they were done with brunch and we played and laughed for 2 hours! By that time she was worn out, so it was a little tough to put her down. She didn't sleep long... Uncle Doug was already over and getting dinner ready with Gramma - BBQ steaks with potatoes and fresh asparagus!

Baby DQ and I set out for Gramma's on Friday so we could spend the weekend all together. I had not been feeling well since our time in China, so was hoping to have a little help with the little one throughout the weekend and get a bit more rest to finally catch up.

Saturday morning started out with me leaving after breakfast to get a much needed haircut! I had her cut quite a bit off, so less pulling on the strays. Afterwards, I called Gramma to make sure she was ok and she was already down for her morning nap, so I decided to go get a way overdue pedi!! So great!! I also treated myself to a Carmel Frap, and read a gossip magazine, so it was turning out to be a very good start to the weekend!

I did a few errands and stopped to see one of my BFFs but by evening, I was feeling so bad I just wanted to go directly to a dr. which I ended up doing and finally found that I had a sinus infection! Finally, I had the opportunity to get better!! The Dr. gave me antibiotics and a nose spray to finally get my energy back.

Now we're back in EDH to spend a few days catching up with things here and going to some 'Mommy and Me' sessions to help meet new people here.

We are having so much fun together, she's so incredible and I am so mad about her!!

Such a Happy Girl!
